FUST Lab. has been selected for the Deep Tech TIPS
FUST Lab. has been selected as a final participant in the Deep Tech TIPS program by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for startup Korea) program supports private investment-led technology startups by matching government R&D funds with investments, nurturing, mentoring, and more through designated operators such as investment firms.
The 'Deep Tech TIPS' program specifically targets companies in Korea's top 10 start-up sectors designated by the government, offering up to 1.7 billion KRW in support over three years (1.5 billion KRW for R&D and 200 million KRW for startup and marketing).
FUST Lab. applied for the first round of Deep Tech TIPS in 2024, recommended by Blue Point Partners, and was ultimately selected. Their advanced oxidation process equipment, CAVITOX, is a pioneering commercial technology capable of decomposing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), notorious for their persistent toxicity in humans, which do not break down once inside the body and are known carcinogens. Although heavily regulated in Europe and the United States due to these risks, there are currently few alternatives to these compounds, posing challenges for industries such as semiconductors, cookware, and clothing.
FUST Lab. showcased this technology at the IFAT exhibition in Munich in May, receiving positive industry feedback. They plan to conduct test beds with SK Eco Plant and K-water in the latter half of this year and prepare for global market equipment launches.
Moreover, FUST Lab.’s advanced oxidation process technology extends beyond treating highly toxic wastewater, potentially expanding into ultrapure equipment used in semiconductor processes, carbon reduction technologies in water treatment processes, and pharmaceutical waste disposal.
